Flames sign Lundmark & Jaffray

Calgary FlamesToday, the Calgary Flames announced the signing of two forwards, one familiar and the other not so familiar. Jamie Lundmark re-signed with the club, while Jason Jaffray also signed a deal with Calgary.

Jamie Lundmark has been around the NHL for 259 games since the 2002-03 season. Last season with the Flames he posted 16 pts in 27 GP, and was a reliable call up played who filled in quite well when injuries decimated the team late in the year.

Jason Jaffray spent the majority of last season playing for the Manitoba Moose of the AHL, posting 49 pts in 56 GP. Jaffray is a native of Rimbey, AB. Not surprisingly, Darryl Sutter is continuing his trend of signing western Canadian kids with this deal.

With these two latest additions, let’s take a look at the new additions to the Calgary Flames roster this offseason:

  • Jay Bouwmeester (D)
  • Brandon Prust (C)
  • Fredrik Sjostrom (RW)
  • Garth Murray (C)
  • Riley Armstrong (RW)
  • Jason Jaffrey (RW)

Of the players listed above, only Jay Bouwmeester is a true bona f ide NHL player. All of the others listed have yet to really solidify themselves as everyday NHL players. Of those players looking to make a name for themself, barring injury, who do you think will end up dressed for the most games in a Flames uniform in 2009-10?
